Rip Baretta vs James

Rip Baretta has wrestled for Can-Am.

James keeps trying to convince Rick to get him a Can-Am tryout. But Rick won’t. He’s seen James wrestle and isn’t impressed. James says he saw him on a bad day. And anyway, he was going against the state champ. Rick can’t take James’ bitching anymore so he decide he’s willing to give James a tryout. But it’ll be against him and it’ll only be a shooter match.

James shows up a half hour ahead of time and Rick is already there stretching in the ring. Rick reminds him that it’s only a shooter match and not a pro match. James can’t help smiling and agreeing with everything Rick says. Rick gives James every opportunity to get out of a variety of holds. He just doesn’t have the experience to follow through and win. After Rick gets his fourth pin he gets up and walks out of the ring. James is very dissapointed and takes awhile before getting out . Rick throws him a towel and James quietly thanks him.

"I could probably get you a tryout in a month or two," Rick says. This surprises Rick a lot and confuses him even more. "You need a lot of work," Rick continues, "But we’ve been wrestling for over a half hour and you never gave up or bitched. You just kept trying." Rick then says he’s willing to train James if he really wants to try to become a Can-Am wrestler. James gives Rick a big hug and a wide grin...and then apologizes for doing both. Now Rick is the one confused, wondering why he stopped.

*Peter*
vs
*Charles*

The swim coach and tennis pro at a health club decided to use wrestling as a format to decide who’s the better athlete. Since neither is really adept at wrestling the mat mainly consists of the two men trying to turn the other on his back. What finally decides this match is the endurance level of the men. Peter has greater breathing control and pace than his opponent. While Charles has short bursts of strength. Peter is slow and steady and finally wears the tennis pro down and gets the pin.

Augie Sanchez vs *Brad*

The question isn’t who’s the better boxer, it’s who is in better condition. They decided wrestling would be a better test since neither knew much about the sport. In the beginning both men try to concentrate on holds around the waist and don’t realize until near the end of the second period that there are other parts of the body they can concentrate on. Sanchez is on top at the begining of the third period and uses his extra weight to pull on Brad’s right arm in hopes of turning him over. But Sanchez is so concerned about his own hold he didn’t notice Brad moved his held arm around the other side of his head. Locking the arm around Sanchez’s head and using his lifting one leg over his waist, Brad shifts his weight and pushes Sanchez to the mat. Unfortunately Brad doesn’t really know where to go from here. He’s got one of Sanchez’s shoulders on the mat but can’t get enough leverage to put the other one down. Third period ends and there’s no winner.
